The RYA Events Appointments Panel have asked us to run the Kite Boarding at Sail for Gold and the 420 Junior Europeans.
The 420 Junior Europeans will run concurrently with the 470 Junior Europeans at Pwllheli. This year in Italy there were over 100 entries in each class so it is likely to be a big event. It will run from 14th to 22nd August.
Sail for Gold is not precisely scheduled yet but is likely to be Saturday 8th to Wednesday 12th June. It will be reduced to 5 course areas (not the 7 we have been used to) now that it is part of the EUROSAF European Cup rather than the Sailing World Cup. Also, the RYA are to invite local people from Weymouth in order to spread expertise (as a legacy of the Olympics) and reduce accommodation costs. So our team leaders will be invited but not so many of our normal race management team members. Mark layers and safety boats are likely to have just one team member with a local person assisting.
Unfortunately the clash with Sail for Gold means that the team will not be in a position to attend the Irish IRC Nationals.
