This is one of the biggest regattas in the UK for junior sailors.
Having endured fickle winds, strong gusts and driving rain on day one of the regatta, the concluding day of the championships brought with it far more favourable conditions for the 268 competitors at the event, with spells of sunshine and an average 12-14 knots. As a result another full days full complement of three races took place allowing for some swapping of places at the top of the fleets.
With 50 boards in 4 classes and a considerable split in ages and abilities it was challenging to set the courses to provide good competition for the whole fleet. But with the experienced team from Solentxtra working closely with the coaches good racing was had by all.
Mike Garvey led the team with Tina Scott, Jane Windsor and Jo Lucas giving their expertese.
