Real Life: As a Professional Consulting Engineer I sold my business interests in the 1990s and my wife and I embarked on an unplanned 10 year circumnavigation. Needing a new challenge when we returned, I became Head of Design and Engineering for a major Contractor. I now work part time as a Consultant in the Construction Industry, am increasingly involved in race management and still find time to go cruising and racing. I am a director of the Ocean Cruising Club.
Clubs: Royal Southampton Yacht Club, Lymington Town Sailing Club, Ocean Cruising Club.
ISAF/RYA Qualifications: Yachtmaster Ocean, RRO, Power Boat 2 and VHF.
Race Management experience: 5 years at Club Level, National and International events. Experience includes dinghies, Olympic Classes and keelboats.
Major Events: Cowes Week 2010/11/12 and 13, Cork Week 2012, 1/4 ton Cup 2012/13, Finn Europeans 2013, 420 Youth Europeans 2013, Scow Nationals 2013.
Sailing and Racing Experience: Raced Shearwaters, 505s and Lasers since my teens and keelboats in Regattas and long distance races overseas. Cruised over 100,000nm and hitch the odd ride racing keelboats and dinghies in UK and on my own boat in the Mediterranean for 3 - 4 months per year.
