ISAF has announced the appointments of all race officials, including the lead race officers, to 2014 events - ISAF Youth Worlds in Portugal; the Rio Test Event; the ISAF Worlds in Santander; and the Youth Olympic Gamnes in China.
The RS:X Class will be disappointed that they have only one representative at the two senior events - the ISAF Worlds and the Rio Test Event - in Andrus Poksi (EST) who is to be a judge in Santander. Robert Lamb (RO), Bas Edmunds (Measurer) and Ilker Bayindir (Judge) were the three other officials nominated to ISAF by the RS:X Class and all of them have all been overlooked. It appears that the person most likely to be in charge of the boards on the water at the two events will be Christophe Gaumont (FRA) who has never worked at a major RS:X event before.
Rob has been appointed as the Principal Race Officer at the Youth Olympic Games in China. Whilst a relatively junior event it is still a privilege and will be a massive challenge - the event is to be held on a small lake reputed to have no wind. Racing has never taken place on that lake before.
