John Whyte accepted the invitation to be the first person to join the team since the Olympics last year. John was at the Quarter Ton Cup when the invitation was formally made - at the last debrief of the event.

John is a long term member of the Ocean Cruising Club and has taken to race management since he moved to Lymington about 12 months ago. He is an active member of the race management teams of both Royal Southampoton YC and Lymington Town YC.
John's first affair with SolentXtra was at the Quarter Ton Cup in 2012 so it seems fitting that he becomes a full member of the team 12 months later. John worked with the team at Cork Week last year and is down to help with the Finn Europeans and the 420 Youth Europeans later this year. He was disappointed when Sail for Gold was cancelled for SolentXtra as he was to be at that event too.
